Of House Gryphondwarf

Left behind after the Dwarves moved south at the time of the Elder Race Wars, House Gryphondwarf struggled to survive in the mountains of Lyonesse. Their number dwindled until only a small colony was left, the colony lives within the Mountain of Khaz-kuruk, or Widow's Peak as it is known in the common tongue.

Through years of training, the dwarves have trained eagles to be their trusty mounts, helping the transport of supplies from top to bottom of the mountains, helping in the hunting and gathering of foodstuffs (the Dwarves of House Gryphondwarf are particularly fond of pork).

House Gryphondwarf follow the ancestor Khuzandar, or the Great Maker, as he is known to most people.

For many years they remained hidden, watching as the lands around them grew and evolved. For a long time they rested and slept under the mountain, until the time of the Great Waking would come upon them. That time is now.

Prophecy of Khuzandar

It is written in the Tome of Forbidden Knowledge (a large leather bound journal resident on the Forge of Khuzandar) that a time of great strife would come to the world.

The Tome of Forbidden Knowledge

Two mighty factions would wage a war of such ferocity across the land that all would be destroyed. The first of these is the Goblins of the Hidden Realm, cryptic creatures of great mystery. They very rarely show their true form, instead living their lives in fabricated bodies taking on the form of the known races.

Scullion, the Librarian - is he more than he first appears?

It is indeed rumoured that the Librarian Scullion is nothing more than a suit in which the Goblins choose to encounter and influence the world. The Goblins are determined to mould the world in their own image, a world of order and laws.

It is often spoken amongst the Goblin kind that truth is a three inch sword.

Sword of Truth (Actual Size)

The goblins often cause those who they deal with to question the very nature of their existence. They are often heard questioning the peoples of the world as to who they think they are. Who Are You? They often ask, causing those they deal with to enter a period of self reflection. For through these great musings, the goblins believe the younger races of the world will realise their true destiny.

The second of the factions is the Mighty Storm Giants. Creatures of pure chaos who see deem that the world will only evolve through conflict. Often they can be heard from their Cloudbases shouting to the children of Erdreja "What do you want?". Believing this will cause conflict with one's inner self, they tease the peoples of the world. Where an opportunity arises where one may ask for great conquest, to be the ruler of all the lands, the storm giants will help. For there pleasure come through seeing others fight and die, a race where only the strongest will survive. Then the circle of conflict will continue.

Bringing Understanding

From the dawn of time of the rise of House Gryphondwarf, an oath was sworn that House Gryphondwarf will make all people of the World aware of this ongoing conflict. The time of the Goblins and the Stormgiants should now be at an end, and now all the races of the world should be left alone, to grow and evolve at their own pace. For it is said an end to this war is an end to all wars.

It is accepted though that this conflict will claim many lives. House Gryphondwarf and their Magnificent Eagles are prepared. The time of the next great conflict is here. The Time to end the Great Conflict is now!

Recent History

The Clan Leader recently sent Vultan unto the Gryphon Lands to spread word of the struggle. After numerous reports filed to the Clan Leader, a decsion was taken by the elders of House Gryphondwarf to enact an old tradition of the court of Lyonesse, namely that a dwarven advisor should be once again be appointed to the Crown of Lyonesse. A message was delivered to Her Highness Joanne de Beaufort (the contents of which remain secret to this day) by Vultan, and soon it transpired that Vultan Stonefist would take over the position vacated by Lord Fitzwilliam (who had to step down due to family issues). This appointment was met with much rejoicing of all the people's of the Gryphon Lands (well sort of much rejoicing, actually it was more of a confused acceptance of Vultan into the faction command).

In support of this, the Clan Leader sent another member of House Gryphondwarf, Jurgen Hammerhand, to assist Vultan in spreading the word of the great struggle. During his journey, Jurgen met with the former Lord Marshall of the Unicorns faction, Grimbold. The tales they told were wonderous, recounting many adventures in mines, but ultimately news of the Struggle between the Goblins and the Storm Giants led Grimbold to join House Gryphondwarf.

Now the group are three, and rumours are abound that the Clan Leader will be sending more emissaries to the Gryphons in order to assist with the numerous wars the faction is fighting. However, the most important struggle of all is still the Great Conflict.
